Handling Instructions
PLATELET POOR PLASMA MUST BE SENT FROZEN ON DRY ICE. DO NOT ALLOW TO THAW. PROCESSING BLUE TOP FOR PPP: CENTRIFUGE BLUE TOP AT 4000 RPM FOR 15 MIN. TRANSFER PLASMA FROM CELLS TO A LABELED PLASTIC TUBE. CENTRIFUGE THE PLASTIC TUBE AT 4000 RPM FOR 10 MIN. TRANSFER THE RESPUN PPP INTO A PROPERLY LABELED PLASTIC TRANSPORT TUBE. PLACE A TIGHT FITTING CAP ON THE ALIQUOT TUBE(S). FREEZE. WHEN COAGULATION TESTING IS ORDERED ALONE, A DISCARD TUBE MUST BE DRAWN BEFORE COLLECTING THE BLUE TOP. THIS DISCARD TUBE SHOULD BE A NON-ADDITIVE TUBE AND ONLY 2-3ML IS NEEDED FOR THE DISCARD.
