Handling Instructions: Quantiferon Tb Gold Plus 4 tube uses the following collection tubes which should be collected in order:Nil Control ( gray cap with white ring); Tb Antigen 1 (green cap with white ring); Tb Antigen 2 (yellow cap with white ring); Mitogen Control(purple cap with white ring) Collect 1 mL of blood directly into each of the four specialized blood collection tubes. If a butterfly needle is used, a discard tube should be drawn to ensure that the tubing is filled with blood before the Quantiferon TB tubes are drawn. Mix the tubes by shaking vigorously for 5 seconds to ensure that the entire inner surface of the tube has been coated with blood. Proper shaking will lead to frothing of the blood. Tubes should be stored at room temp. Do NOT refrigerate or freeze blood samples. Local clients within the Memphis metro area should arrange for transport to the laboratory ASAP. Clients located outside the Memphis area must incubate the samples at 37 degrees centigrade within 16 hours of collection as follows: place the 4 tubes upright in a 37 degree centigrade incubator within 16 hours of collection. If blood is not incubated immediately after collection, remix the tubes by shaking vigorously for 5 seconds. Incubate for 16-24 hours. Mark each tube with “I” to denote the tubes have been incubated. After incubation the tubes may be refrigerated for up to three days. Transport to the laboratory immediately.
